K.C. Lopata has been the Site-Coordinator for the Eastern Michigan University Bright Futures Program at Franklin Middle School in Wayne since the fall of 2011. Mr. Lopata went to school at the University of Michigan where he majored in Physical Education and minored in Political Science. During his time as an undergraduate, Mr. Lopata played for the school’s football team where he was the starting placekicker during the 2007 & 2008 seasons. In addition to his work at Bright Futures, Mr. Lopata also teaches and coaches football kicking and punting. During his free time, Mr. Lopata is an avid bodyweight movement enthusiast in which he practices calisthenics, yoga, trail-running, slack-lining, and other pursuits. Mr. Lopata loves to bring his passion for healthy living and movement into his after school program, especially during fitness time and various sport and health centric club offerings.

Program Description

Bright Futures at Franklin Middle School serves students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. This program provides activities including, but not limited to, fitness, homework help, meditation & mindfulness, art, drama, design & construction, and leadership. Our program works to support social-emotional learning, academic achievement, and enriching our student’s education and lives with a wide variety of activities! Bright Futures at FMS runs from 2:40-5:15 pm and has a 6-week summer program which runs from mid-June-July!
