Adams Upper Elementary

Bright Futures at Adams Upper Elementry provides students with unique opportunities to help them grow both academically and socially, while providing them a safe and fun environment. Our goal is to engage not only our students, but also our parents, teachers, school administration and community in helping to create a successful program that is driven by our needs. We also focus on transitioning students to the next level - from elementary school to middle school and from middle to high school.

After-School Program

Monday through Thursday, 2:50pm to 5:50pm during the school-year

Our after-school program allows students to explore activities that they find interesting. Students have a variety of choices so they can find activities that they’d like to try. A typical Bright Futures day is divided into three sections – “fun” clubs, academic-based enrichment activities and homework time, and students also receive a daily snack when program begins.

Karate, cooking and basketball are examples of our “fun” clubs that give students an opportunity to take part in learning a new skill. Bright Futures Students sign up for a club for a 10-week session, which allows for long-term projects that can last over many weeks. Our academic-based enrichment activities work on math and writing, along with other core- subjects and allow our students to have fun while doing it! Each day also provides an opportunity for students to complete their homework with the aid of adults and other students.

Social growth is also a key focus of Bright Futures at Adams Middle School. Each week our students take part in our Leadership Academies. Broken down by gender, our students focus on character education to help them grow as citizens of their communities.

Summer

Monday through Thursday, 8:30am to 11:30am for 6 weeks over the summer

For 6 weeks over the summer, Bright Futures continues each morning. Our summer program molds a lot of our after-school activities with a “summer camp” feel to it. In addition to our clubs and academic activities, our summer program also offers swimming and field trips.

Many of our students during the summer are those that have just completed 4th grade and will be attending Adams for the first time during the upcoming fall. Summer allows us a unique opportunity to help these students transition into middle school.  Students who participate in our summer program are able to receive a leg-up for when they begin school in September.

Bright Futures at Adams Upper Elementary is truly a place where our students can be themselves and experience new and different activities in a safe environment. Our clubs offer students an ability to choose activities that they enjoy, and our academic activities allow our students to discover their subjects in a new way. Leadership academies, focus-groups and reflection activities help our students grow socially. Bright Futures is a place where each student can have amazing new experiences!
