This is Pam's fifth year as a Site Coordinator with Bright Futures, where she has worked with kindergarten through fifth grade students at the former Adams STEM Academy and the current Ypsilanti International Elementary School. Pam has previously taught third grade and elementary school ESL (English as a Second Language) at public elementary schools. She has served two terms with AmeriCorps leading service-learning projects for youth in Arizona, and leading outdoor education with youth in Maine. She earned her B.A. in History and her M.A. in Elementary Education from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
During the 2018-2019 school year, YIES Bright Futures program will serve students in second through fifth grade. During Bright Futures, students have the opportunity to participate in various enrichment activities such as arts, dance, sports, technology, and more. Community partners include Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, the YMCA, the Ypsilanti District Library, and the Riverside Arts Center. All of our activities are designed to promote teamwork, empathy, and social-emotional learning.
