This is Christine's third year working with Bright Futures and first year as a Site Coordinator. She is looking forward to connecting with students, families, and the greater Romulus community. After graduating from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, Christine spent one year in Glasgow, Scotland where she served as a volunteer working with youth, adolescents, and college students. She hopes to be a model of kindness for the Bright Futures students at Romulus Elementary, and hopes to instill a love for reading and learning. She enjoys the simple things in life including cooking, browsing for treasures at local thrift stores, taking walks, and being near any body of water.
Bright Futures at Romulus Elementary School serves students in second through fifth grade. During the school year, students have the opportunity to participate in various enrichment clubs such as visual arts, dance, sports, and science. These clubs change four times a year based on student input. We also have daily academic time where students can receive small-group assistance with homework or access education technology. All of our activities are designed to support students’ social-emotional learning, including developing empathy and teamwork skills that help students build strong interpersonal relationships. Our goal is to provide a safe place where students and families feel like they belong to a loving and caring community.
