Adams STEM Academy
Pam Baker, Site Coordinator
My name is Pam Baker and I am the Site Coordinator at Adams STEM Academy. I am a certified teacher and I earned Masters degree in Elementary Education from the University of Michigan. I have over ten years of experience working with elementary school students both as a classroom teacher and in after-school settings. I am excited for the opportunity to combine academics and enrichment opportunities for students through the Bright Futures program this year!
Brittany Jones, Assistant Site Coordinator
My relationship with Bright Futures began in early 2012 when I started volunteering as an academic tutor. Since then, I have had the privilege to work at multiple Bright Futures sites as both Student Program Instructor and Assistant Site Coordinator. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from EMU in April of 2014 (summa cum laude! - I'm proud!) and am certified to teach in the K-5 classroom. What I love the most about Bright Futures is guiding students toward the discovery and pursuit of their passions! Outside of Bright Futures I enjoy spending time with my husband and our family & friends, snuggling my pug, Atticus, and doing nail art! I am very excited about my role as Assistant Site Coordinator and look forward to getting to know the students and families at Adams STEM Academy.
The Bright Futures program at Adams STEM Academy provides a safe and positive environment for students to learn and have fun! We meet for three hours after school Monday through Thursday, and currently serve students in second through fifth grade.
Our program features a variety of activities each day. Our staff and volunteers provide encouragement and assistance during our homework help time. Students also have the choice of several academic enrichment centers to practice the skills they are working on during the school day.
Our club time offers students a choice between different enrichment activities such as performing arts, sports and fitness, healthy cooking, nature exploration, visual arts, Lego engineering, and more. We are proud to partner with many local educational organizations to bring a wide selection of clubs to our students. Student voice will guide our selection of new clubs every eight weeks.
Throughout all academic and enrichment activities, we strive to provide a supportive environment where students feel comfortable trying new things and taking risks.
Bright Futures will also be offering a six-week summer program in June and July.
